Mwense Trades Training Institute is governed by a Board of Directors appointed by the Minister, in accordance with the TEVET Act.

The Board consists of representation from the following:

1) a representative of the district administration

2) a representative of the business community

3) a representative of the farming community

4) a representative of Christian community

5) a representative of the Chief

6) a representative of the local community

7) a representative of the Ministry responsible for technical education, vocational and entrepreneurship training

The members elect a Chairperson and a Vice Chairperson from among their number.

        The institute delivers its training mandate through the following departments:

        Applied Sciences

        The Applied Sciences Department provide of support services to other departments by offering the related subjects such as Engineering Science, Engineering Mathematics, Communication Skills, Entrepreneurship and Computer Application/Information Communication Technology (ICT). 

        Engineering and Construction

        The Engineering and Construction Department is responsible for training students in Engineering and Construction programmes. This department offers the following programmes:

        v Bricklaying and Masonry

        v Carpentry and Joinery

        v Metal Fabrication and Welding


        Agriculture and Business

        This department offers the following programmes:
